ISLAMIC DIVORCE: A PRACTICE IN DEGRADATION

Sura 2 (226) They who vow to abstain from their wives are allowed to wait four months: but if they go back from their vow, verily God is gracious and merciful; (227) and if they resolve on a divorce, God is he who heareth and knoweth. (228) The women who are divorced shall wait concerning themselves until they have their courses thrice, and it shall not be lawful for them to conceal that which God hath created in their wombs, if they believe in God and the last day; and their husbands will act more justly to bring them back at this time, if they desire a reconciliation. The women ought also to behave towards their husbands in like manner as their husbands should behave towards them, according to what is just: but the men ought to have a superiority over them. God is mighty and wise. (229) Ye may divorce your wives twice; and then either retain them with humanity, or dismiss them with kindness. But it is not lawful for you to take away anything of what ye have given them, unless b...

THE TWO SONS OF ADAM

Sura 5 27 But recite unto them with truth the tale of the two sons of Adam, how they offered each a sacrifice, and it was accepted from the one of them and it was not accepted from the other. (The one) said: I will surely kill thee. (The other) answered: Allah accepteth only from those who ward off (evil). 28 Even if thou stretch out thy hand against me to kill me, I shall not stretch out my hand against thee to kill thee, lo! I fear Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. 29 Lo! I would rather thou shouldst bear the punishment of the sin against me and thine own sin and become one of the owners of the fire. That is the reward of evil-doers. 30 But (the other's) mind imposed on him the killing of his brother, so he slew him and became one of the losers. 31 Then Allah sent a raven scratching up the ground, to show him how to hide his brother's naked corpse. He said: Woe unto me! Am I not able to be as this raven and so hide my brother's naked corpse ? And he became repentant. 32 For ...

QURANIC TRINITY

Quranic boasting Sura 46 IN THE NAME OF THE MOST MERCIFUL GOD. (1) H. M. The revelation of this book is from the mighty, the wise God. (2) We have not created the heavens and the earth, and whatever is between them, otherwise than in truth and for a determined period; but the unbelievers turn away from the warning which is given them. (3) Say, What think ye? Show me what part of the earth the idols which ye invoke, besides God, have created? Or had they any share in the creation of the heavens? Bring me a book of scripture revealed before this, or some footstep of ancient knowledge, to countenance your idolatrous practices; if ye are men of veracity. (4) Who is in a wider error than he who invoketh, besides God, that which cannot return him an answer, to the day of resurrection; and idols which regard not their calling on them; Sura 55 IN THE NAME OF THE MOST MERCIFUL GOD. (1) The Merciful hath taught his servant the QurĂ¡n. (2) He created man; (3) he hath taught him distinct speec...

WAS THE MUHAMMAD THE UNLETTERED PROPHESIED IN THE BIBLE?

The unlettered Muhammad prophesied in the Bible? The quranic verses quoted below are the grounds for Muslim scholars to search into the biblical scriptures. The aim is to find verses that might prove that Muhammad is mentioned in the Jewish scriptures. To that end, these scholars quote the book of Deuteronomy 18:15 from the law of Moses, and from the Gospels the book of John 14:16. Sura 7 (158) who shall follow the apostle, the illiterate prophet, whom they shall find written down with them in the law and the gospel: he will command them that which is just, and will forbid them that which is evil, and will allow them as lawful the good things which were before forbidden, and will prohibit those which are bad; and he will ease them of their heavy burden, and of the yokes which were upon them. And those who believe in him, and honour him, and assist him, and follow the light, which hath been sent down with him, shall be happy. (159) Say, O men, Verily I am the messenger of God unto yo...
